Calmer Night is perfect for sleeping and reducing stressful night-time noises in places such as bars and restaurants.
What is the difference between Calmer® Mini and Calmer® Kids?
Let's start with what is the same and that is the size, which is 47% smaller than a normal Calmer.
The differences are:
- The colours in which they are available
-
- Mini = Grey, Mint, Purple, Translucent
- Kids = Blue, Red, Yellow, Translucent
- The softness of the silicone
- Calmer Kids are made of the same softer silicone as a Calmer Night and is therefore a little bit softer on younger ears compared to a normal Calmer Mini.
Which type of Calmer is the softest?
Silicone hardness (or softness) is measured in Shore Durometer A and each test gives a hardness value from 0 (softer) to 100 (harder).
- Calmer - 60A
- Calmer Night - 40A
- Calmer Kids - 40A
- Calmer Soft - 30 A (the softest)
Can I wear Calmer Night during the day?
Calmer Night and Calmer reduce the same range of noise frequencies (2kHz-8kHz), but Calmer Night is designed to further attenuate these frequencies in order to provide a more noticeable reduction in volume. This is so that they can really smooth over harsh frequencies and allow the user to relax into their surroundings.
Like Calmer, Calmer Night is still not designed to "block out" sound like a traditional earplug, so you are still able to hear your surroundings. Because of this, we have learned that many people who are particularly sensitive to sound enjoy using Calmer Night throughout their day-to-day lives.
What size Calmer should I choose?
Choosing the correct size Calmer can be tricky due to the fact that everybody has a different size and shape ear canal.
The basic guidelines are:
- The normal size Calmer is suitable for most adults.
- If you don't experience issues with in-ear earphones, the normal size Calmer would be the best fit.
- The Mini or Kids Calmer is suitable for most young children and individuals with smaller-than-average facial features.
- If in-ear earphones (when using regular-size tips) tend to fall out easily, then a Mini or Kids (same size) would be the best fit.
- If you know or believe you have smaller-than-average ear canals, then a Mini or Kids (same size) would be the best fit.
Please take great care in choosing the correct size, returning an item is for the customers own account and exchanges also carry a small handling fee.

Calmer is a small device worn in the ear to reduce stress. We originally designed Calmer to specifically help us all to deal with noises that cause us stress and anxiety. They do this without reducing the volume, so you don’t feel disconnected from the world.
This makes Calmer perfect for: Sensitive Hearing, Hyperacusis, Misophonia, noise related stress & other hearing conditions. Calmer soothes sound sensitivities and calms your audio world.
Calmer reduce frequencies of roughly 2 kHz - 8 kHz. As a result, this produces a much more even sound response smoothing out frequencies that are jarring and therefore resulting in an improved and more pleasant sound.
